Shut Up and Write!

Graduate Writing Group in Ethnography & Discourse Analysis

Welcome to Shut up and Write!, a biweekly writing group for graduate students exploring the intersections of ethnography, discourse analysis, and critical qualitative research.

CDAVE offers a supportive, intellectually rich space for scholars working across disciplines to share writing, receive feedback, and engage in dialogue around the complexities of fieldwork, language, and representation.

Whether you’re drafting field notes, analyzing transcripts, or theorizing identity and power, Shut Up and Write! invites you to write with intention, reflect with depth, and grow within a community of practice.

Meeting Schedule: Biweekly (Fall 2025); every 2nd Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and 4th Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Format: In-person at CDAVE

Who Should Join: Graduate students engaged in ethnographic or discourse-based research, at any stage of writing.

Join us as we write from the margins, listen across difference, and amplify the situated voices that matter.
