Submission Guidelines
You can upload your submission using the “Word Play” button, which has a submission link. Your piece will be peer reviewed by the Discourse Analysis Graduate Collective, CDAVE fellows, in consultation with the CDAVE faculty leadership. Our goal is to notify you within 30 days if your submission is accepted for publication on the website. We will post one submission monthly and 12 submissions annually. We welcome insightful contributions that illuminate the role of languaging in shaping everyday lives. Depending on space, we may invite you to resubmit your piece. Written permission from the copyright holder is required before a Word Play piece can be published on the site. Authors of accepted manuscripts will generally have five days to respond to the notification of acceptance and approve proof. If the author does not respond in a timely fashion, the acceptance can be rescinded. Please consider the following:
· Format: Acceptable formats include scholarly approaches, such as essays, poetry, and short digital pieces that center on languaging.
· Identify Area: Indicate which of the four thematic areas the submission addresses and meet the guidelines of that area.
· Originality: All submissions must be original and previously unpublished.
· Length: Submissions should be no more than three double-spaced pages, using a 12-point font, or approximately 750 words. Digital stories are no more than 3-5 minutes.
· Style: Clarity, conciseness, and engagement with the chosen topic. Use APA style for references and citations.
Must submit a PDF and a Word document. Digital files should be in MP4, MOV, and WebM formats. The filename of a manuscript should include the author’s last name and manuscript title (the first six words or fewer of the title).
